Wilkes-Barre Wedding Photography
December 23rd

Wilkes-Barre wedding photographer Steve Lewis offers Wilkes-Barre brides the very best in Wilkes-Barre wedding photography.

Are you getting married in or nearby Wilkes-Barre? Who will be your Wilkes-Barre wedding photographer?

Here is a list of some of the things you should consider when looking for a Wilkes-Barre wedding photographer.

//1 personality

When selecting a Wilkes-Barre wedding photographer you are selecting more than just a photographer for your wedding day. You are hiring a wedding photographer that will be with you, your family and your group all day on your wedding day. Personality is a huge part of the selection process and should not be overlooked or discounted in any way.

Your Wilkes-Barre wedding photographer’s personality can set the tone for your entire wedding day and your bridal party. Ultimately it can impact your wedding photography altogether. You will more than likely be working with your wedding photographer for a year, or longer in some cases, by the time you factor in your engagement session and post wedding photography and albums.

//2 price

While price is always a factor when selecting your Wilkes-Barre wedding photographer, it should not be the only thing that matters. All too often we hear horror stories from brides who made a decision for their wedding photography based purely on price. It turns out to be foolish in the end. When its all said and done, your wedding photography will be all you have to remember your wedding day.

//3 wedding albums

What will you do with all your images from your wedding photographer? Most people opt to place them in a beautifully designed wedding album that your wedding photographer should provide you with. Don’t underestimate the importance of a wedding album from your wedding day. This is your first family heirloom and your one keepsake you will have forever to remember your Wilkes-Barre wedding.

When selecting a Wilkes-Barre wedding photographer you should look for an album that best represents you and your new family. Wedding albums come in all shapes and sizes. Questions you should ask your Wilkes-Barre wedding photographer 1) How many pages come in the wedding album? 2) How many images will be in the wedding album? 3) What leather options are available for my wedding album?

//4 coverage

Something often overlooked when selecting a Wilkes-Barre wedding photographer is the number of hours that will be offered during the coverage of your Wilkes-Barre wedding. Typically you will want your wedding photographer to be with you to document all the moments of your wedding day. After all, that’s what you are hiring them for. That being said, typical coverage requirements for your wedding day should be about 8-10 hours.

Be careful here. Some Wilkes-Barre wedding photographers offer cut-rate prices by offering you less than adequate wedding coverage for your day. These become hidden costs and once you realize it, it’s often too late.

//5 number of wedding photographers

How many Wilkes-Barre wedding photographers will be at your event? Most events need at least two wedding photographers. This ensures that your wedding photographer is focused on working with your group and directing the day and allows the second wedding photographer to have coverage going on at the same time.

We find that by having two Wilkes-Barre wedding photographers at your event, your wedding photography needs can best be met all while ensuring that nothing gets missed from your big day.

Scranton Photographer – A special project
December 6th

When I was a little boy I remember watching war movies on tv. Most of them were about WWII, and I was a huge fan of MASH. These things all coupled together ignited in me a life long love of history. From the Revolution to the Civil War period up through the modern age, the shapers of our country have always been a part of me. As a matter of fact, I still go to Gettysburg several times a year to breathe it all in.

I have a project in mind to bring my two favorite interests – history and photography together. And I need some help to get it done, mostly in finding my subjects. And I’m hoping you can help.

I call my project “Faces of Valor”, and the idea is simple: find some of the remaining local WWII veterans, along with those from Korea and Vietnam and take their portraits for posterity. Simple portraits, to capture their spirit. Their memories. To have a tangible remembrance of their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their comrades.

My goal is to shoot this project over the winter months and come Memorial Day 2013, to display these extraordinary portraits in an exhibit. It is my hope that someone in our community will step forward and host the exhibit, and to help publicize it. However, for the time being my thoughts and energy are on finding these men and making their portraits.

When all is said and done, it would be my hope that someone would put these portraits on a semi-permanent display, maybe the VA or a VFW. Maybe they can rotate around to tour the VFW’s, or maybe the Historical Society would like to take care of them. I don’t know. But I know I have to get this project done. The rest will come together.

Do you have any contacts in the veteran world? Some people have contacted me but nothing concrete has surfaced. Except for one woman who contacted me on Facebook to tell me about her grandfather who turns 90 on January 2nd , who served at Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, and Okinawa in the Pacific theater during WWII, and how important she felt it was for him to be involved.

I have just begun my search and any help my readers can give in locating veterans would be highly appreciated. I will also shoot veterans that are not of the WWII/Korea/Vietnam era. I am just focusing on them due to the fact that our WWII veterans most likely will be gone in ten years, and our Korean vets in 20.

Rose + Shane – Scranton Engagement Photography
November 29th

So, it was a gorgeous day when I decided to take my awesome couple Shane and Rose up to the rooftop. They were excited to do something so unique and not just your typical “holding hands and gazing at each other” type of engagement photos.

The rooftop arrangement started out a little hectic, lets just say it was pretty blustery up there! However, turns out it was for the best. We shot all over the rooftop and moved down into Scranton city doing a ton of cool things and creating some unique imagery for these guys.

Below are just a few of the shots we got that day, hope you enjoy! Cant wait to shoot their wedding this Saturday!

Steve Lewis Photography is the culmination of one man’s journey of self discovery. Do you remember what you wanted to be when you grew up? Me, I wanted to be a garbage-man, an archaeologist, (damn you Indiana Jones!) an actor, and a cowboy. But as I got older I realized smelly garbage makes me gag, boulders weren’t going to chase me out of Incan temples, I was a mediocre actor in a sea of good ones, and cowboys either get shot by bad guys or trampled by cattle. Since none of those things were going to work out for me, I decided one day not too long ago that photography seemed pretty cool. And then I studied. And I practiced. And practiced. And practiced. And practiced some more.

Then once I figured out what my destiny was, I decided to open for business in January of 2012. Today I specialize in fine art wedding and portrait photography. When I’m in wedding photography mode I’m telling love stories. From the first shot of the engagement session to the final shot at the reception I’m telling the story of YOUR love for each other.

When I’m in portrait photography mode, I’m attempting to capture a slice of your life in un-staged, natural settings as the events are occurring. Portrait photography should be about capturing the relationships and the personalities of my clients as I see it. As a photographer I am a casual observer of life, documenting little snippets of people’s lives. We need to have more than good lighting and smooth skin to make a good portrait. We need to capture YOU. Or your baby. Or your family. You get the idea.

When I’m not with my clients, you will find me running around after my four awesome children, keeping myself caffeinated, and generally loving life!

I like coffee, buttercream icing, sushi, and coffee.

I dislike smelly feet, math, scales, and Ewoks.
